the carnival came to wsu

we had a lot of fun at the carnival
i spotted on campus
as i was on my 7 mile (ouch) run this morning
and all the rides were free!

April 28, 2011

i've been sewing

i had this thought to take an ugly white shirt of hazel's
(i don't like the ruffly edges)
 shorten the sleeves
iron my fabric out to attach it to the shirt
making it a cute little shirt-dress
and i even took pictures of the progress!
turns out ugly shirt plus gingham
equals super ugly country 90's dress
no after picture... sorry
i couldn't do it
but i have been sewing a lot
with some fun vintage floral fabric
i got at goodwill for .50 cents
i'm almost done with some coordinating
outfits for me and the girls
i promise i'll post after pics of those

April 27, 2011

my 600th post

 i threw a baby shower, noah's birthday
and the stake primary easter activity
all within two weeks of each other

michael is stressed so i'm ready
for him to be done with this semester
only a week and a half left

i wish it would warm up
i need sunshine

olive got her first tooth a week or two ago
and now she has a second one

i really want to go on a vacation
but i'd settle for a date with my husband

i feel like easter was a bit of a bust at our house
due to hazel vomiting
and me being too busy to plan anything
for our own easter

i was just thinking about my new years resolutions
and i'm sucking at all of them...
1. instead of running a marathon i'm running a half
(with both my sisters so i'm excited about that)
2. michael and i have read scriptures together
every day of this year
but i'm slacking at my own personal reading
3. i haven't sent my niece kamryn
anything for her birthday
and it was a few days before noah's

i rearranged the kids rooms
and it felt so good
we just needed a change, a break
we just need a little vacation
that's all

most awesome outfit award goes to....

noah who was apparently dressing himself
for a big race at the playground with all the
 other 5 year olds
this is his pumped up ready to win face
please note the backward shirt,
swim trunks,
tall church socks,
hidden knee pads,
and the fact that he emptied his drawers
to create this perfect outfit

sadly there weren't any other 5 year olds
 to race outside
but at least he has hazel

April 25, 2011

embarrassing

all day i thought my hubby looked so cute
all day long
i just thought he was having a good hair day
or something
or that i was just being sweet
and extra affectionate
i don't know
it wasn't until
this evening
when he told me we need to buy
more contact solution
that i realized he was wearing contacts
..and that's why he looked so good
oops
turns out, our 5 year old even noticed
...this morning...

happy easter

love, noah, hazel, and olive

April 20, 2011

easter decor

better late than never, right?
here's a little bunting in our living room
made from scrapbook paper
stencil letters onto black paper
and
sewn to some bias tape
and a peep wreath
layered on my mirror above the kitchen sink
all it took was a dollar store gigantic wreath
nine packages of peeps
and a hot glue gun
confession:
the only reason i made either of these
is so they can double as decor
for the stake primary
easter activity

Noah's 5th birthday

for noah's birthday we went bowling
and had a blast
this is noah's just-got-a-strike pose
proud mommy of a 5 year old
after bowling we offered to do whatever he wanted
but he just wanted to go home
i'm glad he likes home so much
so we picked up lunch and a few things for his party
and went home to get things ready
here are some pics of the decor
noah wanted a thomas the train party
so i played off the fact that thomas is his middle name
and the theme was Noah Thomas (the train)  is 5
here are hazel and olive sporting the hats i made
and little thomas appliques on their shirts
we cleared everything except the dresser out of olive's room
and made a train room
so kids could play with trains and watch thomas
we're really glad we set this up, it really helped
having a separate place for kids to be
in our small apartment
 we had some pizza
 a pinata, opened presents
and sang to the birthday boy
it was such a fun day
and i was glad we went all out
 to celebrate noah's 5th birthday

Noah is 5

It's true!!
Somehow this little baby boy grew up!
 Noah is Five!!
We had pancakes and hot chocolate for breakfast,
we will either go bowling or miniature golfing today,
and Noah is having a big fun party tonight!
Part of me is sad that he's so old but I am completely giddy for him to be five.
He can show his age on one hand
and he'll definitely remember this age.
Happy birthday, Noah bear!!

growing up

who's got spikey hair
too much gum in his mouth
and registered for kindergarten today?

sunday night camp out

almost a year ago for michael's birthday
i bought him a tent and some sleeping bags
with the intent of camping sometime
much, much later..
michael decided tonight we might as well have
an indoor camp out with the kids
so he set the tent up
we had no idea it was so huge
we had to move everything out of the living room
other than the couch
and it barely fit
we blew up the air mattress,
covered it with pillows and blankets
and watched the new joseph smith movie
it was really good
a little scary for the kids
but they learned a lot from it, i think
i think i've had my share of camping for a while
we'll do this again next year
with smores

olive is 9 months

and a week old
i wasn't posting this out of protest
she's getting too big, too fast
(she loved ranch chicken)
olive is in the 20% for height and weight
she crawls everywhere
and pulls herself up on everything
says mama and dada
she is pretty easy going
loves to be one of the kids
and can't stand it if she's not in my arms
or within arms reach of me
which is tough since i have 3 kids
but a nice change from hazel
who only ever wanted michael
we just love our little olive/mini me

April 9, 2011

my favorite thing about yesterday

noah chose to wear his jeans on backwards
all day

April 7, 2011

sweet

if you live in the middle of nowhere
then you know it's hard to find awesome places
but there's a way cool consignment shop in moscow (on main)
that i love
it looks really urban and fresh
and they have a lot of good stuff
include some hand made things
i took some of my clothes there to consign
about three weeks ago
and i've already made $31
that's my half, they charged double that
a lot of things i took there i got thrifting in the first place
and paid way less than what i'm getting for them
sure beats it sitting in my closet

April 5, 2011

three little monkeys

i love these torturous pictures
michael took while i was gone running one morning

the kids are so tired and blinded
but i love that noah's sleepy face is now documented
and that all three kids were so cozy in our bed

April 2, 2011

just a day at the park

yesterday the weather was beautiful
i think it may have been a cruel april fools joke
because it's snowing and super cold again today
but anyway we took advantage of the warm weather
and took the kids on a little walk around down town
and then to the park
our double stroller occasionally works as a triple
if someone sits on the front foot rest
not bad, right?
 our little monkeys

 wahooo
olive's first time down the slide
our friends were at the park
so we asked them to take a family pic
hazel was pouting and noah was about to run away
but we take what we can get
(ps: i cut my hair a little more, can you tell?)
 three kiddies on the swings
michael hates to be left out
 they look so happy
olive had never been on the swings like this before
she absolutely loved it
she gave nonstop belly laughs
i think we were all really happy to get out
after a long winter
