random randos

olive had fun playing dress up at the hunts during a play date
henry went up a stair or two and then turned around to sit down
it was really cute and a little scary
 little matchie girls
eleanor HATED this shirt until she learned olive had the same one
henry was wondering where his matching outfit was..
 homework never looked so pretty
as it did right before ballet
olive was curling my hair before bed and noah loves to photo bomb
we thought olive needed an immunization for kindergarten
but the doctors office was wrong...again...we really need to switch doctors
but olive was happy to be off the hook
i am completely in love with the vintage dresses my mom gave me from my grandma's house
i love all of these dresses!!!

henry tackled eleanor and pulled her hair trying to get her corn dog the other day
so i got him his own and he ate almost the entire thing
the babies were in their tummies
these two have so much fun together
alone time at target and my first top knot in a long time
holla!
olive rocked her kindergarten assessment today
and eleanor was right behind her trying to do everything just like her
monkey see monkey do with these two
i was washing henry's bumper and he kept sticking his legs through the bars
and getting stuck during his naps....
michael was so sweet and came home from work a little early today
right as i was doing some yard work so he helped me prune the tree in the front
such a darling
noah and hazel made their own afternoon snack today
isn't it the cutest?
henry was so, so proud of himself for climbing up on this little chair
until he realized he couldn't get down
then he started to panic
i love this little family of mine
they make me so happy

just a couple of (bigger) kittens

i just love seeing our girls in matching clothes
it can be hard to find matching things in their sizes these days now that hazel's bigger
but costco had their pajamas on sale
so matching poodle jammies it is!
 they are getting so big
i am so grateful these girls have each other

here's a little side by side from almost 19 months ago and now
i love that they sat in the same order
it's fun to see how much they've grown and changed
this was back before we'd ever cut olive's hair
back before we knew eleanor had CURLY hair
and the last time hazel let me cut her hair short
i love our book end boys and three girls in the middle
it's so fun
i'll admit being a mom to five is definitely not easy these days
but i love it anyway
and cute jammies help :)

weekend wear

saturday we did some shopping
and this is what i wore

boots: steve madden skirt: h&m sweater: old navy belt: jcrew

sunday is church
this is what i wore

shoes: forever 21 dress (and tights): target, belt: old navy

i have at least 20 pounds i want to lose from pregnancies
and a lot of tightening up in the mid section to do
having eleanor really changed things since she was
huge and late my body stretched out way more than normal
but i am on my way
and have lost over 40 lbs since having her
and i'm hoping outfit posts will be a good motivator

how to trick your girly girl to wear her brother's old nikes

when we were buying noah's tennis shoes for kindergarten
i purposely bought neutral shoes
so they could be passed down to his sisters
i figured if we were spending $30 on kid shoes
we should get some use out of them
noah wore them all last year
and they're still in pretty good shape
but they aren't quite girly enough for hazel's taste
so i bought a pink sharpie to color in the nike signs
but it didn't cover well enough
so i also tried some fabric paint
which also didn't cover as well as i was hoping
so i figured i'd give it one last try
and hope i hadn't ruined these shoes
and i used nail polish on top
nail polish did the trick
they look more filled in and silky now
and hazel is excited about them

two dollar skirt

being poor can make dressing how you want to hard
and so can having four babies
but alas, we went to a garage sale today
and i found this skirt for $2
i'm in love with it
i'm pretty positive this skirt was handmade
which is making me think i should make a few more of them
i love the length and
 it even has pockets!
(don't mind the scowl, the sun was getting the best of me)
i also got this necklace that ties all cute in the back with ribbon
at the same garage sale for $1
and this shirt was recently purchased for $3 at DI
yay for cheap clothes
that get me through the poor college/haven't lost all the baby weight times

lucky michael

this girls swimsuit was on gilt yesterday
and luckily it was sold out before i knew it
or i would have been seriously tempted
to spend $55 on a swimsuit for hazel
it's possibly the cutest thing i have ever seen

such a well dressed group

hazel in two different high heels
she just finished sweeping
while wearing them
talented girl!
olive's wearing a hand me down
from her older siblings
that i bought at the thrift store 4+ years ago
breastfed babies are healthier babies
 noah's sporting his Christmas pajamas
after Christmas
and well into the afternoon
while playing wii
and me?
well i'm wearing the clothes i could find on
my bedroom floor
to keep me warm
while i clean

i kind of love only having one car
so when michael's gone
i know we'll just be home
and we can play and have fun
and not stress about going anywhere
it's a fun time of life
home with three kids all day long

i just found out
that the woman who owns it
has an etsy shop!
i am so excited!!!
if you want to see it
go here
i wonder if michael will agree
that i need this dress...
fingers crossed

about my new years resolution..

i haven't purchased any new clothing or shoes
for our family in 2010
so i guess you can say it's going well
but it is hard
and just look at the cute sweater hazel is wearing today
i bought it while i was pregnant with her
on clearance at old navy for like $2.50
you can't beat that, even thrifting
so while i'm proud of myself for setting this goal
we find out what we're having next week
and i just don't think i'll make it past then
shopping the day i find out what i'm having is..
tradition
and who am i to break tradition?

January 1, 2010

resolution?

i don't normally do new years resolutions
they seem like a waste of time and effort
i usually forget about them
and i don't see the point in waiting to start a new thing
however
starting january 1, 2010
i am going to challenge myself
to something i've been meaning to do for a while
i am not going to buy new clothes
for our family
i will only purchase clothes at the thrift store
and sew the rest
i think it'll help me be creative
and help me think to save and reuse more, in all areas
i'll let you know how it goes
