hooray for hazel taking a nap!

lately hazel's napping is sporadic..

but today i gave her a treat and she slept

yay!!

so tonight noah and i were playing some

right before bed

olive is obsessed with the thomas uno cards

and tonight she would not stop trying to get them

no matter how far away i would move her

eventually she got up and actually crawled to them

i took a couple videos of her

i thought it was cute

and kind of funny

don't mind in the first video you can hear noah

telling us he had a poop accident...

or in the second video that i'm yelling at hazel to

stop attacking olive while she tries to crawl

oh and sorry our house is a little messy...

valentine's day recap

 my valentine

 michael thought to make the kids 

pink heart shaped pancakes

for breakfast

they loved it

 olive loved playing with the balloons

the kids are really in to forts lately

so i made their whole room one

we had a really fun valentine's day

we went out to teriyaki 

with our friends for dinner

and wandered the mall

we got mini ice cream cones

at mcdonalds on the way home

it was lots of fun

this morning the kids were disappointed

it was over

getting ready for tomorrow

we told the kids that tomorrow is valentines day

then we blew up balloons

made cookies

and now michael's hanging the streamers

we're very excited

i've been sewing olive some shirts and dresses

using this pattern

from prudent baby

it's been so fun to use scraps of cute fabric

to make olive some clothes

this gold might be a little much but... oh well

noah and hazel's shared room

noah and hazel have been sharing a room for a while

but noah was in the bottom bunk

and hazel was in a crib next to them 

until a couple months ago

when she moved to the top bunk

but lately hazel was climbing down to play

so we decided we'd clear their toys out

and put their beds down side by side

i think it's adorable

 i haven't done much decorating

but my mom made their quilts when they were born

and i made the banners a while ago

so i tacked them up

as well as some vintage handkerchiefs i had

 here's hazel's bed fully embellished

 and noah's

when they're supposed to be sleeping

but they aren't that tired

either way she's darn cute!

reasons michael is amazing

1. Last night Michael took both girls to the store to buy birthday cards for me while I did hair. He was being supportive of my goal and wanted to help. I was so touched!

2. This morning I woke up around 6:00am and ran 4.5 miles and then didn't eat for a few hours. Not great. I was unhappy and couldn't find anything to eat (we were out of milk). Michael made me eggs and got me out of the house and it totally helped.

3. He called and said he was on his way home, going to study from home and asked me out to lunch. So sweet.

4. Encouraged me to take a nap. Hazel napped with me. It was wonderful.

5. Michael always wants me to be happy. I am so blessed to have him. Right this second he's home from his Elders Quorum meeting after just an hour so he can watch The Office with me. What a doll!

on saturday they got to see 10 of them

enjoyed seeing family

and made it home safely

happy that i successfully (hopefully) taught the stake primary leadership training last night

glad to be done with the hectic day yesterday was

all packed up for a weekend away

excited to see my sisters and get some quality family time

nervous about our 6 hour drive we'll be making

hoping i can convince my sister to come home with me

glad i slept in and didn't go running this morning

sunday best: family edition

random ramblings

1. i didn't get dressed until 3:00 today and the only reason i did then is because olive spit up all over michael's shirt i was wearing. i guess she was sick of seeing me look like a slob.

2. olive is so close to crawling. it's the cutest.

3. girls night tonight with my two closest friends...can't wait. we're going to dessert which is perfect because noah ate the last bite of brownie i was saving myself today so i've been craving something delicious since.

4. we want a new van so bad. we sold our car a few months ago and thought we'd buy a van. then we waited for scholarships to come so we could buy a van. they're here. but we're still waiting. now we're waiting for our tax return and then we really will buy a van. it's hard being patient! luckily michael's parents gave us their old car a little while before we sold ours so we still have something to drive while we wait.

5. michael came home for lunch today and brought me flowers. so sweet.

6. today when hazel bit noah's back and i told her to say sorry she said sorry with her eyes closed while dancing and chomping her teeth. i don't think she was that sorry.

7. i am really excited to go see my grandma for her 89th birthday party in a couple weeks.

8. and lastly, thank goodness for sisters.

sunday best: olive edition

i'm glad i think olive is so cute

it makes her screaming so much more bearable

pillow love

i love pillows

they are so cute

and can give such personality to a room

but i can't afford new pillows all the time

so instead of browsing etsy for a pillow

i decided to recover one myself this time

we are saving up for a van, after all

i just made a new cover for a pier 1 pillow i already had

i used this freezer paper tutorial

and some stencils i owned

to spell LOVE

and a vintage orange zipper i owned

not bad for a free new pillow, right?

i heart giving

i always wanted to when i was little

to be like my dad and older siblings

and then the first time i did

i was sixteen

and it gave me such a good feeling

luckily michael's work sets up blood drives
and he took the kids to the science center

michael especially liked that i grabbed
an extra treat to share with him

olive is...

Our sweet Olive turned six months old yesterday. Sadly that means she got her vaccinations yesterday and was also diagnosed with another ear infection. (She already had a double ear infection about a month ago). Poor girl. She's a trooper and lets us know when she's not happy by giving lots of little screams. Olive weighs 15.5 pounds and was 25 1/4 inches putting her in the 40th percentile for both. She has been rolling from stomach to back since two months and from back to stomach since 5 months. Around 4 or 5 months she started scooting while on her back by arching it. Olive now gets on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth and even manages to go forward when she's really motivated. She loves solid food. We started her on rice cereal just before she turned 5 months and now she's eaten mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, peas, and baby mum mum. She loves everything and even whimpered the other day when she saw me eating a pear. She loves to suck her thumb and thinks everything Noah does is hilarious. She sleeps pretty well at night but since these ear infections she's been getting up a couple times a night again. Hazel is really wanting to be Olive's mommy lately and insists that Olive be on the floor so she can play with her. Olive never seems to mind her. Needless to say, we all love our Olive Beatrice. 

resolutions

resolutions kind of stress me out

i don't like to fail at things

so i'd rather not set goals

you know what i mean?

but, it's the beginning of a new year

and there are some things i need to work on

so....

here it goes

some things i'd like to work on in 2011

• run a marathon
• read my scriptures every day
• remember and acknowledge everyone in my family's birthdays (parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, in laws, etc. i have this goal every year....but if i miss the first one i give up on the rest immediately)

phew, i did it

now hopefully i can make it through
