nervous

picture from a few moves ago
i get a little anxiety sometimes
like when big things are happening
or big decisions need to be made
and we're moving for the 4th time within an 8 month period
in two days
i'm not really ready
and i'm kind of dreading it
i try to just think of the positives
dishwasher-round door knobs so i can childproof-no stairs
-built in airconditioning-
2 bathrooms-3 bedrooms
it'll be great right?
but i still don't want to physically do it
and
it's finals week
so michael's a little stressed
ok, truthfully he's not really
but i am for him
and once this week is over we start a 3 week break
before michael starts school again
3 weeks is not very long
and we talked about going to italy
but it's pretty spendy
and then we talked about going to new york
but still kind of spendy
and we know we can use the money elsewhere
so now we're thinking of hanging out in seattle/portland/oregon coast
without the kids
which sounds nice
but i know this break is going to be over before we know it
and i'm just not sure what we should do
i guess i should go pack

helper hazel

hazel is becoming quite the helper
i'm amazed that at 14 months
she notices when i'm behind on laundry
and even offers to help
yesterday she unloaded the entire load of clean clothes from the dryer
what a doll
she makes laundry look so fun

emergency

well we made it 3 years before noah ever needed to go to the ER
he went yesterday for his first time
he had a fever all day and vomited
his fever was still up to 103 degrees by the time we got there
they tested his urine
and a swab from his throat
and he's fine that way
so it's just a summer virus
that he'll be over soon

farmer's market

we finally went to the moscow farmers market today
we went hungry
so for breakfast we had strawberry lemonade
a dozen fresh mini donuts
some fresh mexican food
we also purchased some huge blueberries and corn
and now it's time for some tetris attack until we go to a bbq tonight
woo hoo

July 23, 2009

what's cookin'?

last week we went to the wsu 80th annual rummage sale
and lucked out on this sweet wood kitchen
for $8.00
the kids love it
but...i'm not sure they understand the concept yet

my kids are so lucky

tonight for the first time
i caught a bit of the TLC show toddlers and tiaras
i could not believe it
it gave me such an awful feeling
i felt like i was watching child abuse
one mom was putting her 2 week old in a pageant
and saying she can't wait to see his "stage presence"
another mom made her feverish daughter do a photo shoot
and another mom was prepping her twin girls for a pageant
and she has an obvious favorite
she was so mean to the nonfavorite twin
poor children
their moms are completely living through them
and trust me, the moms are not in their prime
vomit
4 year olds need dress up time
not spray tans and fake fingernails
it was awful!
noah and hazel, you're welcome

the most important meal of the day

today i got woken up by hazie way too early
and all she wanted to do was play
then when we actually got up all she wanted to do was fuss
so she went down for a nap
we got michael off to school
and noah and i read a book
and took the garbage out
now noah's watching sesame street
and i'm eating breakfast
at 10am
it could be worse
some days i forget breakfast
today i put it off because i knew we didn't have 1%
so i had to water down the kid's whole milk
it tasted fine
before i ate it i felt like taking a picture
because i love our bowls
and the kashi and strawberries looked so pretty

sunnyside park

everyone talks about sunnyside park
but we hadn't been
until today
we finally found it
and...it is pretty sweet
check out this slide

plus there are 2 ponds
and lots of play equipment
this is noah on one of those merrygoround play things
he joined in with a bunch of kids from a daycamp or something
he even went to line up with them when it was time for them to go

i finally managed to get a picture of miss hazel's two teeth

and in an attempt to get another one
i got a picture of her beautiful eyes
go ahead and click on the picture
her eyes are brown on the inside with a blue rim around them on the outside
isn't that awesome?
but you can only see them outside in good lighting
i'm so happy to have a picture now

here's me after i recovered from going down the slide
it was kind of a painful experience
very bumpy
i don't think i'll do it again

hazel and michael relaxing in the shade

pretty fun park
i'm sure we'll frequent it

we bought a new....

couch
it's a sectional actually
we got it off craigslist
we'll still hang on to the couch we just reuholstered
but we wanted something more comfortable
and that could more people
i'd show you a picture of it here
but it's not here
it's at our friends house until after we move in a few weeks
can't wait!

a lazy day at the pool

yesterday we had so much fun at the pool with our friends
we stayed for nearly 4 hours
i just wish i hadn't thought "i never get burnt"
and skipped the sunscreen
because, today, my shoulders are telling me otherwise

shhhhh don't tell michael

how much fun we have while he's at school
or how many otter pops we eat...

July 16, 2009

the moment we've all been waiting for

here's the couch
it's completely done
except the coushion covers still need zippers on the back
and we didn't use the highest quality fabric
so this is kind of a trial run
but when this wears we'll just replace it
with a higher quality fabric
since now we know what we're doing
yay for projects
and a repurposed couch
our once turquoise 1960's couch now has a modern look
to go with it's retro shape
i love it

music in the park

last night we met some friends
for music in the park
noah enjoyed swinging with his friends

and he liked swinging with hazel

but he loved swinging by himself

michael secured him in this handicap swing and let him fly

it was a really fun evening with friends
and otterpops
and music
what could be better?
here's a bonus video of the sweetest moment

July 15, 2009

through the eyes of a child

photographer

taken while sitting on our desk

gotta love those handlebars

from a lower angle
i really like this close up of the books
(michael don't forget to return your library book)
noah your photography is the bomb
ps..i think you're cute

couch update

it's done
except for the coushions
pictures tomorrow

July 14, 2009

we're going for it

we're doin' it
we're re-upholstering our couch
not because we think it'll turn out so fabulously
but we don't feel like we have many options
we are still buying a new couch for our living room
but this will go in our room, we think
here it is all taken apart

pretty, huh?

the cool part was finding what was inside

turns out this couch was made in 1963 in portland
and then shipped to a furniture store in bellingham

we also found some garbage and a couple of other little things
we thought these 5 cent Christmas stamps were pretty neat

we're probably half way done re-upholstering but i'll show you that later

bangs

my sisters are so pretty

picture from noah's first birthday party
even with gross hillbilly teeth in

boys will be boys

noah set this up
and michael photographed

July 11, 2009

what could be more fun?

today
we drove 30 minutes to Lewiston and Clarkston
(i wonder if lewis and clark had anything to do with the neighboring cities...)
we didn't have much of a plan for when we got there but
we knew there was a costco
and a wholesale beauty supply
which is more than we can say for pullman
so we headed that direction
expecting a little of this and a little of that
what we didn't anticipate was finding a storage unit garage sale
where we found this little beauty for $25

i loooooove it
and michael's working on recovering the seat right now
after our little treasure hunt
some samples from costco
and some new hair supplies
we headed home
and stopped in a little town called uniontown
where we went to all 4 antique shops
don't i have the best family?
and the coolest bakery
we shared some super yummy treats
i made michael let me take a picture of him licking his fingers
he had a sticky cinnimon roll
here's noah with his very large chocolate cookie

hazel at my feet
not minding all the other people there doting on her

this is me and hazel with my delicious chocolate petifore

doesn't that look good?

the bakery was right accross the street from this building
it is the fire station/town hall/library
isn't it adorable?

then...
as if we hadn't had enough fun today
we stopped at "the big red barn"
for a lavender festival
a hay ride
vintage goodies
(i bought a new canister set and a skirt)
a pond full of fish
and live music

it has been a wonderful day
i love my little family
and tonight we're having dinner with friends
it can't get much better than this
