we landed in venice pretty late and took a water taxi to the island from the mainland
it was pretty awesome pulling up
we even saw people dressed up for a masquerade ball
we stopped for our first italian gelato on the way to the bed and breakfast we were staying at
here it is
that's the door leading up and there's a restaurant below
our room
we headed right back down after we got settled and ate at the restaurant below for dinner
it was pretty awesome
and delicious
the view from our terrace
venice was a pretty fun place to wake up for mother's day
michael brought cards from the kids for me
the hall to our bathroom
pretty fun to have breakfast delivered to our room
the pretty bed
it rained nearly the entire time we were in venice but we tried to make the best of it
and appreciated the umbrella's our b&b provided
venice is so pretty
the rialto bridge
michael is the best for always finding the way where we need to go
piazza san marco
nice and quiet before all the tour boats show up
the view from the bell tower
it was WINDY and wet
the view was amazing
we did an audio tour of the doge's palace
cool flooring and soggy shoes
the bridge of sighs
cool old doors
cicchetti
orange trees in a courtyard
cool bathroom doors
a cool often flooded bookstore
they keep the books in bathtubs and on crates
we went into st mark's basilica but you can't take pictures
pizza break
super narrow alley
despite the rain we took a gondola ride
back to our b&b
leaving venice with a scarf on my head to try to keep my hair dry
sweet michael carrying both our bags on the stairs
all tuckered out on our train to florence
venice was GORGEOUS
i am so happy we went
and i forgive it for raining the whole time
