michael and i decided to take each of our kids on a trip for their 13th birthday
so they can have one on one time and get to go on an airplane and have an experience rather than presents that year
we decided to go to san diego
we got our rental car
our first stop was the uss midway
it was cool to tour it
we were starving and found a taco spot on our way to the beach
noah loved playing at the beach for hours
we made it to the hotel and went swimming
noah even convinced me to get in all the way, wet hair and everything :)
we went and got panda express (his favorite) and ate it in our jammies at the hotel while watching tv
the next morning we got up for breakfast and went to snooze
after breakfast we went to the cat cafe in downtown
noah loved it and wanted to adopt this kitty
then we made it to the san diego zoo
he loved the reptile house
we went back to our hotel and changed for the beach
we went to la jolla and it was a gorgeous day
it could not have been more perfect
the sea lions were really friendly, noah loved finding shells and i met lots of nice people
we grabbed a couple of slices of pizza and slurpees to take back to our hotel
one more dip in the hot tub
lounging on our phones
we decided to last minute go see shazam
noah LOVED it and i was surprised how much i liked it
the next morning we had to wake up at 3:45am to return our rental car and catch our 6am flight
bye san diego
sweet travel buddy
we had a layover for a few hours in oakland so we got breakfast with a view in the airport there
michael got us from the airport and had a nice meal waiting for us
and got noah a mint chocolate chip ice cream cake for his birthday
i can't believe he's a real teenager!
13 feels so old
but he is the sweetest young man, he cares so much about homeless people and animals
i loved spending the weekend with him
it was very special
i think we needed this time together more than we realized
i need to prioritize spending time with him more

What an awesome thing to do! I think we may adopt this into our family as well! You are such a good mom!
