our new living room

i've wanted new nice couches for...forever
we've been married almost 10 years
and we've gone through so many craigslist couches it's hard to keep track
so a couple months ago i decided it's time for some real furniture
and since i don't have much control over our budget i decided i would save my hair money
and buy couches myself. even if it took forever
i started saving in february and by the end of may i had enough
(with the help of michael pitching in and selling our other furniture)
we found some couches at downeast home after looking all around on memorial day
and ordered them
then decided we should look for our new rug
because our old jute rug has a big stain from a diarrhea accident
and the cleaning that had to happen afterward
so i headed to target with the little kids and saw this HUGE rug on clearance
but it was all wrapped up with no picture so i wasn't sure what it really looked like
an employee helped me find a picture on their little machine
i wasn't sure about the colors
i tend to like cool blues and grays but i told michael about it anyway
we'd already sold our blue couch a day earlier
eleanor loved the extra space for dancing
that evening someone came to buy this one and downeast home called to tell us our couches arrived
yay!
we went and picked them up
so exciting!
the kids have loved playing in the boxes
michael added the legs (with henry's help of course)
that night we went and bought the rug i'd seen
we figured we should at least try it
and we found a couple chairs, too!
which took alllll of the money we'd saved
my friend crystal came over to check everything out
and helped us figure out the best way to arrange everything
and i love what we settled on
i took a few pictures the next morning
i don't know that these will be permanant here but it's good for now
i love this room so much!
the chairs and couches and rug go so well together
it's a different look than i was going for but i totally love it
i will still probably change the mantle and add some pictures on that wall
and maybe change out the pillow covers but i'm so happy with how far we've come
and that all that hard work (i've done so much hair lately! saving went way faster than expected)
paid off, and that we finally have grown up furniture that we picked
thanks for supporting my goals, michael!

It's beautiful! You did such a great job saving for, purchasing, and then designing your living room!
