fourth of july

if i told you that today
we left the house for a parade
missed it, got lost, found the most obscure way to go to moscow,
out to a late breakfast, unintentionally to a dog show and 4th of july celebration,
shopped at the mall, home for naps, eleanor to the hospital for a blood draw,
rode our bikes with all four kids to sunnyside park for the fireworks,
left early to get home since they didn't start until after 10pm,
and made it home at 11 after a strenuous ride home
would you believe me?
the dirt road we happened upon this morning
 hazel
michael enjoying the dog show
 michael's set up
 and mine
it was so funny pulling in to the park because the path was lined with people
we were exhausted and showed it
and they cheered for us!
i felt like we were finishing a marathon or something
we were happy we made it and that we'd picked up subway to eat at the park
we had fun listening to the music
and playing in the grass
darling eleanor in her festive romper

it was a long, memorable day
i'm really proud of our family of six for biking
six miles today
pullman is so HILLY!
no one had a major meltdown
and it felt very freeing to ride our bikes
it was extra fun feeling the breeze and watching the fireworks
while we rode
though michael and i are going to be preeeetty sore tomorrow
we're hoping this will be a really fond memory for the kids

I was scrolling down, while reading this post, and looked at the cute picture of Hazel, then scrolled down at the picture of Michael. I don't usually think they look alike, but in those two pics, they totally look alike! I think it might be the smiles :)
And hello -- awesome tandom bike! How fun is that!
Also -- did Hazel love being able to sit with Eleanor?! :)

did you try for the johnson parade? you probably didn't miss much. :) next year you can go to the provo parade. except you might have to get up at 4am to get a spot. I think I would have had a meltdown if my day went like that. maybe I'm just pregnant and haven't seen my husband except for 48hrs in the last 3 months.... hopefully you're not too sore! dang pullman and those hills!
