out of commission

i ran 8 miles on saturday
and it seems that's my limit
ironically, i really enjoyed the run
but since saturday my left foot has been
hurting more and more
in my arch, calf and ankle
i have really flat feet
so running probably never should have been my sport
i looked online and self diagnosed
this is what i came up with:
it sounds just exactly like it.
i am really disappointed that this happened
and really hope the pain starts to decrease
so i can at least walk again
(right now that hurts pretty bad)
stupid flat feet and extra bone in each foot!
blurg!

Blurg is right, Tacho! Does this mean you are going to not do the Rock n Roll? I really want to do it with you even if it means we walk it for five hours. No pressure, though. I just hope you feel better soon. Was your surface hilly or flat?

I didn't know that flat footed ppl shouldn't run! I have very flat feet but super comfy nikes that I run in. I am sorry your feet are sore. Let me know if you need anything. I'd be happy to come over and chase your kids around for you!

Running kicked my butt too. I was google self-diagnosed with patellar tendonitis :( Running is mean.

make sure you ice your foot and take something for the pain. i had tendinitis in college and it sucked rocks but it get better after a lot of babying it.

I bet that better shoes and a week off might fix it. Most people get some sort of stress fracture or overuse injury when they stay running longer distances but you can usually get past it. Not that I would know first hand, but I took a lot of classes on it.

I'm sorry about your foot...no fun. But if it helps, every long run I have ever done, no matter the distance, I think it's the very farthest I could ever go.:)

injuries are part of the journey! :)
I had plantar fasciitis for about 5 months after my half marathon and couldn't run. no fun, but it made me realize I needed to improve my running style and stretch longer. blah. hopefully you heal quick and can get back to running! in the beautiful weather ;) -val

dang that stinks! maybe different shoes? there is a place in kent (can't remember the name, but I think jock n jills in seattle does something similar) where they watch you run on a treadmill and then find the shoes you need. it's awesome. a little pricey, but after you find the shoes you need, you can shop around and find better deals.
