the guest bathroom makeover

the guest bathroom
was disgusting and outdated
it was embarrassing to let people use it
it seemed to never be able to get clean and it grossed us out

why a wooden toilet paper holder?
our house is only like 10 years old!

we were nervous to do anything because we knew it all needed to be re-done
and that's a lot of work and money
but we were watching fixer upper one day
and decided it was time to get crackin'
henry loves to be involved in all of our projects
we took a chance and ordered our tile from amazon
and we were so happy with it! no broken pieces and exactly what we wanted
 prepping the floor for tile
i layed the mortar and tile while michael cut the tiles in the garage
 michael grouted it
 done and so pretty!
new toilet! it's a toto drake (super nice) that my brother hooked us up with
our first attempt with a wall color was a flop
it turned out to be way too royal blue and not the vibe we were going for
michael nailed the board and batten
love it!
we debated between a new vanity, rehab-ing our old vanity or a pedestal
and i'm so glad we found this pedestal
it keeps the room feeling big and airy and looks so pretty
 new paint color
much better (although the blue looks way less offensive in pictures than it did in person)
 new faucet
 time for a new light

henry and olive taking a shower :)
michael had his head in the ceiling
replacing the old fan with one that has a light on it
finally found  a mirror at world market
we agree we don't 100% love it
but it was super cheap on sale and the right dimensions so it'll work for now
 ta da!!!!
all done
we ordered this light from west elm and it's really pretty
i still loved these pictures i had on this wall so we put them back
the bright colors look cool against the dark wall

i am so happy with how this bathroom turned out
it's so pretty and bright and updated!
michael really nailed it
and thanks to my mom for giving us some extra money from her inheritance so we could afford it
now the only untouched room downstairs is the laundry room
we'll get to that sometime
but we've made a TON of progress in the 18 months we've been in this house
and it makes me so happy

Ahhhh, it looks amazing! I never thought of getting tile off of Amazon, genius! :D
What if you painted the mirror light grey, or maybe have it as an accent pop of color and use one of the colors in the flower paintings?

I love your projects and am totally jealous of your vision and skills! Share some with me please? It's been almost a year in our house and we haven't even painted because I can't commit to anything! It's embarrassing!
