olive's sick week

on sunday as we were about to head out the door to church

olive started crying that she couldn't go because her head hurt too bad

so henry and i stayed home with her

he was pretty mad to be left behind but enjoyed his morning nap after i took this picture

 olive rested most of the day and when we finally found the thermometer

we realized she had a temp of 102.8

and it has lasted, and lasted and lasted

 monday she got up and got dressed for school

but she still had a fever so we stayed home and played

the fever hasn't really been bringing her down, she's still playing and having fun
i think henry and eleanor have enjoyed having her home to play with

 i've been trying to get her to rest when she needs it but it hasn't happened much

 we went to the doctor a couple days ago and they said it's a virus

that it could possibly be hand, food and mouth because it's really rampant right now

but to just rest and wait for the fever to go away

thank goodness that i have someone (or a few of them) to keep me busy this week

i'm not going to say this has been my favorite week
it's thursday and olive hasn't gone to school once
which is fine, she's nice to have at home
but we have no structure
and henry and eleanor have been exceptionally busy this week
i'm excited for olive to get healthy
she seems to be getting worse before she gets better
thursday her fever was persistent but she and eleanor had a lot of fun playing

by this morning her fever was finally gone!
she got to go to school for the first (and only) time this week
she is finally over it and i couldn't be happier

henry lately

i loved walking into the kitchen to see these two playing on the floor together the other day

 yesterday while i was busy cleaning downstairs

henry was busy upstairs

coloring his face

 i said, "henry, did you color your face?"

he said, "yeah...and hands"

 i said, "you colored your hands?"

he said, "yeah, and feet"

and showed me

he's the cutest

 eleanor later admitted to helping him color his ears

and when i told her that wasn't a good idea

she said, "what, i'm just telling the truth"

henry is talking more and more

he loves his dad

can kick and throw balls really well

likes jumping on the trampoline

and being outside in general

he has started to try to say prayers

and he's a really fun, usually easy going boy

that keeps us busy and laughing

we love him

i can't believe he'll be two next month!!

a fun filled saturday

we headed out in the morning after breakfast 

the kids thought it was so cool we drove on lake hazel drive most of the way there

i made hazel take a picture in front of lake hazel elementary

 then we went to birds of prey

we'd never been but noah had been dying to ever since we moved here

kids were free on saturday and the weather was great so it was a good day to try it out

i was surprised how small it was but the kids (especially noah) thought it was cool

 when we left it was time for lunch so we headed downtown to guido's 

it's so good!

 i love that it looks like i was going to eat all of it and not share with my hungry kiddies

the kids wanted to walk to the capital after pizza so we did

there were a bunch of old cars parked right in front so that was cool

 i love the way eleanor is hugging olive and henry is saying cheese

 in the elevator in the capital

 on our walk back to the car we stopped for doughnuts at guru's

 then we ran some errands

and on our way home from our neighbor's michael let eleanor drive the car home

they were both pretty happy about it

 saturday night we watched the lion king

if the kids have ever seen it, it was long ago enough they didn't remember it

they liked it but thought it was sad

i told them it was the first movie that made me cry when i was little

 ps: i love us all crammed on our couch

michael eventually moved to the little rocking chair

we made need something bigger soon because a three person couch doesn't really cut it

president's day, the dentist and easter dresses

we didn't do a whole lot for president's day 

hazel kept wanting to play games with me 

but i was busy doing house work

and she was surprised at how much i do :)

we eventually played three games of go fish together

then we rode bikes to the park

 tuesday we took all five kids to the dentist

henry didn't love his first visit but they were all CAVITY FREE!!! yay!!! such a relief

 for being cavity free the dentist gave the kids free frozen yogurt gift certificates

 eleanor was devastated to not get seconds...

 henry loves to sit next to me and eat my oatmeal in the morning

 i made the girls' easter dresses yesterday and today

i love them

 olive finally mastered the monkey bars

 noah baked and decorated this cake for the cub scout blue and gold banquet

all by himself

everyone loved it and he was so proud

the first half of february

sometimes i forget to blog

'cause instagram

it's so much faster and easier

but i do love having things recorded here, too so here it goes

henry loves sink baths

we watch the bachelor together on monday nights and then talk and laugh until way too late

 hazel was looking extra cute for school one day

 olive's class went all out for groundhog's day

 my sweet little boy is almost ten and almost two big to hold

 but he still loves his mama

 snow day!

we had a snowy morning a week or two ago

but it was gone by the afternoon

henry and eleanor played for an hour straight outside together

 eleanor kept throwing snowballs at me despite my lack of snow gear

 michael called and asked me out to lunch

we had some cute extra company and enjoyed teriyaki together

 we moved my sewing closet upstairs in our closet and i love it

 i barely got a picture but henry is walking up the stairs like a big kid!!!

 we let our zoo pass expire and we've been going on the free days they have

they gave the lions some valentine's day presents and the kids had a front row view

 hazel was so sweet to watch over henry and talk to him about everything

henry likes to "help" with the laundry and make me crazy throwing piles of folded clothes into

the laundry basket...

olive, eleanor, henry and i had lunch at the scentsy headquarter's sweet cafeteria

 with mandy, jen and karly

 it got a little crazy with the kids but it was fun

 for our family friday night date night we got panda express

and watched kung fu panda 2

 now we're all excited to see kung fu panda 3

 this is how i found noah and olive watching cartoons saturday morning

 i gave henry a haircut saturday morning

and then threw him in the shower with olive

he loved it

i think it was his first shower

 we've been loving the warmer weather lately
