starting a few weeks ago, henry has done this terribly concerning thing
where he goes from being fine one minute
to arching his back like crazy, getting really upset and not really breathing
and even turning blue the next minute
and it lasts probably 1-3 minutes
i've almost called an ambulance on more than one occasion
but it's pretty short from start to finish
and after the episode, he's upset but back to normal
and he stays alert the whole time
so i can't tell if i'm crazy or it's an emergency
thursday night when he did it, it was one of his worst episodes
and we took him to the ER right away
they checked his vitals first thing
and since they were good, they let us sit in the waiting room for over an hour
as if it wasn't an emergency
we eventually saw a Dr who thought it sounded like reflux
but he doesn't have all the signs of that
and the turning blue thing is not a normal sign of reflux
but rather than doing a full work up of blood and x-rays,
he told us to go to our regular pediatrician the next day
so friday we went to the pediatrician and he thinks it's reflux, too
so he prescribed medicine that will hopefully help
although so far it doesn't seem to
and he said if in a few weeks (after we've moved) he doesn't improve
and/or keeps having these episodes, we should talk to our new Dr about home monitoring
so hopefully things improve soon
it's so hard to say if this is related to his milk protein allergy or not
henry is a really fussy baby and i'm sure he's in pain a lot
it doesn't surprise me if he has reflux but i'd like it taken care of sooner than later
and i hope this medication starts working

That sounds so stressful, scary and I hope the medicine works for him.
Harper had trouble breathing from time to time when she was a very new baby, and it was chalked up to acid reflux as well. Fortunately for us she got over it fairly quickly. I hope you get to the bottom of your mystery soon.
oh French! my heart is breaking for you both! you are SUCH a good mama. look how cute he is! this too shall pass. I love you and I'm sorry I don't have any real answers!
That sounds scary and annoying that they can't pin down exactly what it is. I hope the meds help. I am so sorry! You are a great mom! Just watching you take care of all those kiddies makes me have a small panic attack! You are awesome. Oh and I gave your name to one of my best friends ( Tracy the real estate agent from Boise) so she could cyberstalk you. I think you guys should be friends too because you are both fun, cute, good thrifters, and funny. Sorry about the novel. Sheesh
I am sorry you have had a hard time with your sweet baby. That's the one hard thing about being a mom.
P.S He is sooo cute in the last pic. :)
