only 5 weeks late..
she weighed 15 pounds (50%)
and is 26 inches long (75%)
and her head is in the 90%
as soon as i went over eleanor's health history
the doctor was quick to refer us to a GI specialist
which is great
except her appointment isn't for almost a month
i haven't given eleanor any solid foods
and the pediatrician thought that was really good
because we know nutramigen is all she's had
and what she is currently reacting to
he recommends holding off on solids until we see the GI specialist
which i am happy to do because i don't know how she'll react
and it seems really stressful
my plan has been to try to get her health under control
and then work on solids and when/what to introduce
even if it's really late
i assume that eleanor won't be eating cake on her 1st birthday at this point
but we'll just have to wait and see
hopefully things can get resolved sooner rather than later
ps: eleanor loves chewing on her blanket
i think it's super cute

She has got the prettiest eyes!
this picture is super cute. and...who knows...you might have to make a special cake for her birthday, but they have so many options for food allergies these days. It might just require a little experimenting for you! :)
we don't know each other. I'm pretty sure I found you on the mclanahan's blog - we left pullman at about the same time you moved there. I hope you don't mind a comment from a stranger.
My son is about the same age as Eleanor and is having similar issues (at least he also has blood in the stool). After pulling nearly a dozen foods from my diet, we tried the over the counter hypoallergenic and it didn't work at all. If anything, it seemed to make him sicker.
One thing I learned about nutramagin is that it is still milk based. The milk is broken down in such a way that most kids won't react, but a severe enough milk allergy will sill react. So, Eleanor might still have "just" a milk allergy. There are other formulas that your GI will probably prescribe that are amino acid based (and therefore have no food-like substances). They're expensive, so definitely see if your insurance (or Medicaid or WIC if you qualify) will help cover them.
The gastro also said that 90% of kids will outgrow their allergies by age 1 (in time for cake!) and 95% will have grown out of them by 3. So, I guess, don't lose all hope.
We still don't really have an answer, and I haven't found much support from the people around me, mostly because they simply have no concept of what it's like. And, I am aggravated sometimes by "helpful" things that people say. So, I hope that I can give you a little hope and that the comment from a complete stranger that knows nothing about the situation isn't too annoying.
I'd be happy to "chat" about our experiences so far (like I said...still figuring it all out) if you'd like. There's an email address in my profile.
poor baby girl!
So crazy!! Hopefully it's something she'll outgrow :[
