May 30, 2009

this was our last weekend in kent

and luckily michael is done working
so we have had our first work-free weekend in a long time
we garage saled and found a few things
michael got his long anticipated acceptance letter to UW today
which doesn't change anything
but it is ironic that it came one week before we're moving
and it was our first choice
anyway, then
tonight we ate dinner at claimjumper

and we're about to watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
all snuggled up on our vintage couch
i hope you all have a lovely weekend, too!

happy birthday, gine!

it's my sister's birthday today
her name isn't actually gine
but that's what i call her
we talk for hours a day on the phone
so i guess you could say we're kinda close
this is her loooking very happy because it was a picture at the airport last time i picked her up there for a visit

this is her and i in boston

i hate this picture of myself but she loves it because she looks cute
 so i'll share it

this is when i did her hair for her wedding

some yummy green facial masks we did a couple years ago
she'll love that i called them yummy

i love you, gine!
happy birthday

why today rocks

these plus this
equals a fun day

dr's appt.

today hazel had her 12 month check-up
she is very healthy
she weights 18 lbs. 8 oz. and is 29 inches long
this puts her in the 15% for weight and the 65% for height
her head is in the 10th %
she is pretty petite
which is why everyone thinks she's younger than she is
well that or the fact that she just started crawling a month ago
and doesn't have teeth
either way
she's such a good girl
hazel got two shots today and stopped crying before we even left the room we were in
and was smiling at people on the way out
i love her easy-goingness

tomorrow's my sister's birthday

so of course i wanted to make her a gift

specifically i wanted to make her some silhouettes of her family
but that didn't work because i didn't have good profile pics of them
so instead i did something else....
i'll have to wait for her to get it in a couple days before i show you what it is.
it was inspired by a tutorial or two from this blog

lampshades and nightstands

lampshades and nightstands

recently i decided i wanted matching lamps
on matching nightstands
so we found matching lamps at st. vincent de paul for $2 each
and bought them
but they didn't have shades
so luckily at ikea they had these orange ones in the as-is section for $2 each
i do like orange but not for our bedroom
so we took the orange fabric off

and spray adhesived some of the left over fabric from thisproject on

and we recently re-did this nightstand

and here's the other nightstand we re-did
it isn't identical (and i think we forgot to take a before picture)
but they go well together

i'll have better pictures after we move and we're all settled there
but here's an idea of how my nightstand/lamp situation turned out

ok, we're moving next week

yesterday was a big day
we finally started packing
noah even got in on the helping
and has only broken one thing
sadly it is michael's monogrammed anthropologie cup
we'll have to buy a new one before we leave
oh darn, another trip to seattle :)

noah almost wrapped up his bear
but decided against it once he realized we're putting this stuff away
  for a week
............
so packing, packing, packing
understandable enough
but what happened to our apartment!?!

seriously, it looks like a bomb went off
everywhere
we've got a lot of work to do

happy memorial day

i feel like it was a year ago today that i had hazel
and it was
kind of
i had her last memorial day
so that means a year ago today i was in labor
and i left church knowing i would have her that day
but instead i had an emergency c-section at 12:30 am on the 26th
which means tomorrow is her birthday
and it marks the first year we've had with our sweet hazel

May 23, 2009

i'm a washington girl

i've lived here my whole life
today i purchased this necklace at a garage sale today for 50 cents
i don't normally wear much jewelry
but...i'm going to start making an exception for this necklace
i love it
