henry is six weeks and rolling over!

sweet henry is six weeks old today
it seems like sooo much has happened since he's been here
but i'm also loving his newborness still
he smells so good and is so sweet
and he's getting big! a week ago he weighed 10 lbs at the doctor
i put henry on his tummy for the second time today and he immediately rolled over!
what an over-achiever! he is the earliest roller in our family for sure
(noah was 5 months, hazel 7 months, olive and eleanor 2 months)
henry has given michael and i each unsolicited smiles once
but he hasn't smiled at either of us yet
so we're in competition to see who will do it first
we are so happy henry is sleeping well
only waking once or twice a night
and crying less and less
henry is a doll

it was a good day

we have been super busy packing, cleaning, taking care of things before moving
but today we mostly just had a fun day
after we ran an errand we took the girls and henry to lunch at cubby's
i laughed out loud when i walked in and saw olive's socks and sandals
 the girls
 henry
then we ran hazel to school and took the three youngest to target
they all fell asleep on the way home
and olive was sleeping with her feet up wearing her new boots
(boots i had to buy so she'd stop wearing mine!)
then we came home and waited for noah and hazel to get home
then we went to DI for a bit
before heading to the food truck round up in provo
it's so fun
we got the kiddies snow cones
 michael and i ate kababs
and admired our names on the plaque of the pound it kebab truck
because of a donation we made to their kickstarter
michael with his kebab and the sun shining behind him
 hey-o
we all shared a waffle, too
eleanor was pretty mad it wasn't just for her
the kids thought it was too cold so we went into the open building where you can eat
and hung out for a bit
 it's such an awesome building
 look at this cute guy
it was a seriously fun day
we're trying to squeeze in all the fun we can before we leave utah
and i think we're nailing it so far

henry is the cutest

henry had his first real day at church on sunday
and looked so cute in noah's 8 year old handmedowns
 aww, so cute
 mom, dad and henry
henry was sleeping on me yesterday and kept laughing out loud
i guess he was having a hilarious dream
look at that smile!
later i decided i should give tummy time a try
he immediately scooted like 6 inches
and got super close to rolling over
he didn't hate it the whole time
just most of it
 he lifted his head
 and then got really mad
and a picture of him sleeping in his cradle
we just love this sweet boy
he'll be six weeks on friday!

yesterday and today

yesterday michael went on noah's field trip to the local library
we figured he should take advantage of not being in school or working
and he had a good time being with noah
he also snapped a picture of the inside of noah's desk
what a slob!
henry is the cutest grumpy baby
we had to "show" our house to prospective renters last night
so michael stuck around and i took all five kids to target by myself for the first time
(just typing five kids almost gave me a panic attack)
it went surprisingly well!
hazel and olive fell asleep on the way there so noah and i rocked out to weezer together
when we got there i bought each of the kids their own small icee
and they thought it was so cool not to share (we normally get one large one for everyone)
the kids were seriously great and stayed in the cart the whole time
until we got to the toys and i let them out
and then they each got to pick a toy for $1.00 and they were happy about that
henry hung out in the ergo on me the whole time and was happy, too
and just in case you think i actually have it all together
here's a picture of my puffy eyes from crying a bunch last night
because having 5 kids can be hard
and we've been through a lot in the 5 weeks since henry was born!
plus sleep deprivation...
today we went to chipotle for lunch
and then ikea for possibly the last time before we move
can you believe they don't have ikea in idaho
or 7 ELEVEN! i'm not sure how we'll cope..
michael and i have found that wearing our babes is most effective when we go to stores
so i wear henry in the moby and he wears ella in the ergo
works like a charm and they both slept while we shopped ikea
the big kids were at the play area so it was pretty much a date
hot!
this afternoon michael took noah, hazel and olive to the provo rec center to swim
and i stayed home with eleanor and henry
who both napped and it was amazing

henry's first ER visit...

starting a few weeks ago, henry has done this terribly concerning thing
where he goes from being fine one minute
to arching his back like crazy, getting really upset and not really breathing
and even turning blue the next minute
and it lasts probably 1-3 minutes
i've almost called an ambulance on more than one occasion
but it's pretty short from start to finish
and after the episode, he's upset but back to normal
and he stays alert the whole time
so i can't tell if i'm crazy or it's an emergency
thursday night when he did it, it was one of his worst episodes
and we took him to the ER right away
they checked his vitals first thing
and since they were good, they let us sit in the waiting room for over an hour
as if it wasn't an emergency
we eventually saw a Dr who thought it sounded like reflux
but he doesn't have all the signs of that
and the turning blue thing is not a normal sign of reflux
but rather than doing a full work up of blood and x-rays,
he told us to go to our regular pediatrician the next day
so friday we went to the pediatrician and he thinks it's reflux, too
so he prescribed medicine that will hopefully help
although so far it doesn't seem to
and he said if in a few weeks (after we've moved) he doesn't improve
and/or keeps having these episodes, we should talk to our new Dr about home monitoring
so hopefully things improve soon
it's so hard to say if this is related to his milk protein allergy or not
henry is a really fussy baby and i'm sure he's in pain a lot
it doesn't surprise me if he has reflux but i'd like it taken care of sooner than later
and i hope this medication starts working

one last trip to the hogle zoo

our zoo pass expired in april so we took the kids one last time
yesterday right after school
there were some super cute baby geese hopping up after their parents
and the littlest couldn't make it so it walked all the way around
and met them on the other side
it was really cute

it was the perfect afternoon to be at the zoo
it was warm enough to be without jackets
but not too hot
and there was hardly anyone there
sadly they've been re-doing the zoo the entire time we've lived here
and we're missing all the cool new stuff by a matter of a few weeks
oh well, we hear the zoo in boise is nice
one last cute picture of eleanor from after we got home
